How can exercise physiology help me?

Exercise physiology can enhance your fitness, strength and ability to perform daily tasks with greater ease. It’s effective for improving balance, alleviating pain, and preventing injuries.  Beyond physical health, exercise therapy can also boost your mood, motivation, concentration and confidence. We work together to improve your health, supporting daily activities, encouraging participation in your interests, and we are great at reducing the barriers that might stop you exercising.  Our trauma-informed practitioners understand psychosocial disability and ensure exercise therapy is tailored to your space and abilities.

Do I need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist?

No, you don’t require a referral to make an appointment with us. However, if you're using funding programs, you can obtain a referral through your GP for services like Medicare, DVA, WorkCover, or private health insurance plans. NDIS participants do not require a referral.

Is exercise physiology covered in my NDIS plan?

Exercise physiology may be included in your NDIS plan if it has funding for 'Improved Health and Wellbeing' or 'Improved Daily Living.' We're here to help, so please get in touch if you have any questions!

Why choose Mindfulness In Movement?

At Mindfulness In Movement, we’re a small business with a big heart, dedicated to truly understanding our client’s needs and building long term relationships. With over 30 years of combined experience, we craft personalised exercise programs for clients with diverse needs, including those with mental illness, ABI and neurodegenerative disorders. Our team of qualified exercise physiologists are here to help you break free from the cycle of chronic pain and illness, empowering you to enjoy the activities you love again. Most importantly, we’ll guide you in developing the skills and knowledge to better self-manage your condition and foster lasting change.

How is Exercise Physiology different from personal training?

Exercise Physiology focuses on using exercise as a form of therapy, particularly for people with chronic conditions, injuries, disabilities, or mental health challenges. At Mindfulness In Movement, our Exercise Physiologists are university trained professionals with a depth of understanding and experience in supporting clients with diverse needs. Personal training (12 week course), is typically focused on general fitness and personal trainers may not have the appropriate training or clinical experience required to address complex health issues.
