What is a Community-Based Exercise Physiologist?
What is a Community-Based Exercise Physiologist?
At Mindfulness in Movement, we are a team of community-based exercise physiologists on the Sunshine Coast. But what exactly does community-based mean?
It means we come to you, in your community.
We don’t work out of a clinic, we go to where you are, whether that’s your home or a local facility like a pool or park.
As university-trained allied health professionals who specialise in exercise and health management we can support you in many ways, including:
Conducting health assessments for at-risk clients,
Providing trauma sensitive therapy,
Completing home-based sessions to build up your physical strength,
Encouraging you and helping you gain confidence,
Supporting you with gradually getting out into your environment,
Guiding you to find activities you enjoy
When they’re ready, we love to assist clients to attend their local recreational facilities. We often take clients to pools for hydrotherapy sessions, which can eventually lead to them starting swimming or joining water aerobics classes. For NDIS participants we love to work together with supports to facilitate this.
If you would like to increase your confidence and physical ability to attend a gym, we can teach you exercises at home and then support you at your gym when you’re ready.
There are so many options and we love the variety, so reach out and tell us your goals and we’ll help you work out a plan to get you there. Before you know it you’ll be an active participant in your local community.
